Bakery Icons

This project was an exploration of semiotics, symbols, and universal language, utilizing a created language through icons to communicate with an audience.
Process
When starting this project, I knew that I wanted to use baked goods for my overall theme and icons. I knew that I wanted to create one big illustration on the front of the cards, tying everything together in a bakery setting. Then, on the back, I wanted to have chalkboards that would have the icons for each baked good, as well as a description of what each was.

Feedback Changes
After creating my initial designs, I made changes based on feedback I received during critiques. For the front of my design, I removed some of the baked goods from each section so that the design wasn’t as static. Then, with the back of the design, I changed the individual chalkboards to be one big board to tie into the front of the design, with one big illustration cut on the individual cards.
